In order to meet the new "Sanitary Standards for Drinking Water" and the requirement to achieve direct drinking water coverage by 2025, a project to build a new steel deep treatment system in the water plant has been initiated to address the excessive levels of 2-MIB and geosmin in the water.
The existing integrated deep treatment project has a design scale of 60,000 m3/d. The project uses an ozone-biological activated carbon filter deep treatment process. This project will construct 2 ozone contact tanks, 4 activated carbon filter tanks, 2 lift water tanks, 2 sets of ozone generator systems, and corresponding power distribution systems, automatic control systems, and civil engineering.
Water from the sedimentation tank is introduced into the ozone contact tank, where it undergoes contact oxidation with ozone before entering the activated carbon filter tank. After adsorption and degradation by the activated carbon, it is sent to the sand filter tank for filtration through the lift pump station.
After long-term operational monitoring, this deep treatment system has shown significant effectiveness in removing 2-MIB and geosmin.
